Where the Idea Began (Copy)
Point & Paw started long before the name existed. After years working for one of the UK’s leading gundog supplies companies, we saw something that didn’t sit right: the products were brilliant for working and shooting dogs, but the everyday pet owner was almost invisible in the conversation.
Yet the truth is simple – the same training principles, the same quality of kit, and the same attention to detail can completely transform life with a pet dog too. There was a clear gap: no one was talking to the pet owner who loves long walks, adventure days out and maybe dreams of a better-behaved dog, but doesn’t identify as a “gundog person”.
That’s where the idea for Point & Paw was born: a brand that brings professional-grade dog gear and field experience into the everyday lives of pet and adventure dog owners.
Turning an Idea into a Plan
Once we knew what was missing, the next step was to shape it into something real. We started by defining three non‑negotiables for Point and Paw:
Quality first – products must be durable, functional and made to a high standard.
Sustainably sourced – wherever possible, materials and manufacturing should respect the environment.
Inclusive of all dogs – whether you have a working dog, a pet, or something in between, you should feel welcome here.
From there, we mapped out our first product range: dog leads, heeling leads and dummies. The essentials we believe genuinely improve time spent with your dog.
The Hunt for the Right Suppliers
Finding suppliers turned out to be one of the biggest challenges. It wasn’t enough to stock what everyone else was selling. We needed partners who cared about craftsmanship, consistency and welfare as much as we do.
There were plenty of false starts – products that looked good on paper but didn’t feel right in the hand, or didn’t stand up to real‑world use. We tested, rejected, refined and tested again. Slowly, we built relationships with makers who understood what we were trying to do: bring high‑quality, sustainably sourced gear to a wider audience without compromising on standards.
This stage took time, patience and a lot of samples, but it’s also the part of the journey that has shaped Point & Paw the most. Every product we stock has been chosen with intention.
Building the Website
With the foundations of the product range in place, it was time to create a home for Point & Paw online. The website needed to do more than just list products – it had to tell our story and make both working dog handlers and pet owners feel at home.
We focused on:

Preparing for Launch
As the website came together and our first stock arrived, the focus shifted to launch. That meant checking every product, refining pricing, planning photography and preparing our social media presence, with Instagram set to be a key channel for connecting with our community.
Behind the scenes, we were also working on budgets, marketing plans and the practical details that turn a brand from an idea into a functioning business. It hasn’t always been smooth or easy, but it has always been driven by the same goal: to offer dog owners something genuinely useful, reliable and considered.
Launching Point &Paw
Now, as we launch Point & Paw, it feels like the start of something much bigger than a shop. It’s the beginning of a community of people who care deeply about their dogs, their time outdoors and the quality of the gear they use.
